So I think the problem came with either the new firmware that SanDisk tried to transfer to my device and/or the Sansa Updater (which is useless as far as I can tell). No exclamation points by the USB ports in Device Manager. The SanDisk Mp3 clipzip then started charging properly.

When that driver updated, it updated ALL USB ports. It found and installed one (took a few seconds) I right-clicked on the USB port and selected the automatic search for newer driver. I plugged my player into a different USB port, and the same thing happened.another yellow exclamation point icon by the different USB port. I could see where the one my device was plugged into wasn't working (a yellow exclamation point icon was by it) I expanded then looked at the various USB ports It would work for a 10 or so minutes, then stop charging.Ĥ. I tried just plugging in the Mp3 player just to charge it via laptop. I uninstalled the updater (I had several copies by this point), except for one copy of it.
